Žaliasis taškas – Lithuania's first and largest licensed packaging waste management organisation

Žaliasis taškas coordinates the management of product packaging waste. Operating since 2003, the organisation currently represents more than 3,500 Lithuanian producers and importers and holds over 50% of the market. It is a non-profit public institution and neither owns nor holds shares in waste management facilities.

Our goal is to create an effective shared system for managing and recycling packaging waste, minimise environmental pollution from packaging waste and raise public awareness by encouraging people to sort their waste.

Žaliasis taškas belongs to the international PRO Europe network, which brings together 31 packaging recovery organisations across Europe. Green Dot organisations are trusted by more than 170,000 companies worldwide.

We represent the Green Dot trademark in Lithuania.

Our priorities

Environmental protection

As a non-profit organisation, we fulfil packaging waste management obligations on behalf of our members and contribute to improving Lithuania's waste management system.

Partnership

To build an effective environmental protection network, we work with producers and importers, waste management and recycling companies, municipalities, the Parliament and Government of Lithuania, the Ministry of Environment and its subordinate bodies.

Education

Through educational initiatives, we encourage people to take part in environmental protection, develop environmentally conscious attitudes and consume responsibly. We also encourage businesses to operate sustainably and manufacture products that cause less pollution and require fewer raw materials.

Organisational governance structure

The shareholders and board of Žaliasis taškas ensure that the interests of the business sector are represented effectively. The organisation's 22 shareholders are divided into committees according to the specific requirements of packaging waste management. The committees delegate representatives to the Žaliasis taškas board in line with the established packaging waste sorting and recycling quotas.
